Course Repetition

COURSE REPETITION POLICY
A course labeled as "No Repeats" in the college catalog of College of the Redwoods may be repeated twice and only under the following circumstances:

  1. A student is repeating a course to achieve a passing grade.  All enrollments count toward the two-repeat limitation, including W, D, F, and NP (formerly NC) grades. Only the last grade symbol will be used in computing the GPA, however all grades will remain on the student transcript. For the second repeat (third enrollment) the student must complete and give to Admissions and Records an "Acknowledgement of Final Attempt to Pass a Class" and will have to be registered in person.
  2. In extremely rare instances one more repetition may be allowed if the student petitions and is approved for enrollment under documented "extenuating circumstances beyond the control of the student" within the confines of Title 5 (illness or accident). Petition to Appeal for a Fourth Repetition are revied between one to three weeks before the term begins. Petitions without accompanying documentation will not be reviewed. Specific attention should be made to
  3. Special class course repeatability is authorized to permit additional repetition to meet the requirements of Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, 29 U.S.C., Section 794. Under the provisions of CR Board of Trustees Policy No. 533 and Administrative Regulation No. 533.01, the District may provide students academic accommodation because of special needs as defined by the act.
